2017-2018 Board of Directors

Incoming board to lead more than 250 members in local community service initiatives

SCARSDALE, N.Y. –  The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) has announced its incoming Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 term. Founded in 1947, the JLCW is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

 

The board is led by President Alyse Streicher who served three previous and consecutive terms on the board as Treasurer for two years and most recently as President Elect. Joining Streicher is a group of women who bring a broad range of talents and professional backgrounds and who share the organization’s commitment to community service. They are: Sandra Katz, President Elect; Midge Lesniewski, Treasurer; Dana Miele, Secretary; Thrusha Henderson, Membership VP; Sarah Sheehy, Communications VP; Jessica Gleason, Community VP; Valerie Phillips, Fund Development VP; Marianne Chao, Sustainer Director; and Sarah Schaeffer-Roth, Nominating and Placement Director.

“I am honored to serve as this year’s President, and look forward to a fantastic year ahead,” said Streicher.  “The JLCW will provide leadership building opportunities to our members, and services to our community including our two marquee projects: the Westchester County Diaper Bank which we launched in conjunction with Westchester County government in 2014, and Best Start which focuses on health and literacy of children enrolled in Head Start locations in select White Plains elementary schools.”

The JLCW board will lead more than 250 active and sustaining members in the communities of Eastchester, Greenburgh, Scarsdale and White Plains and is pleased to welcome the 25 provisional members of the 2016-2017 new member class to their growing organization.
The JLCW invites women of all races, religions and national origins who are committed to volunteerism to attend an upcoming New Member informational session on Wednesday, September 13 at 8:00 p.m. or Friday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Wayside Cottage.
