Junior League of Central Westchester Holds Drive to Benefit Children of the Greenburgh Housing Authority’s After School Program

posted on

he Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) has recently partnered with the Greenburgh Housing Authority’s After-School Program to help provide supplies and support to this successful and growing program.

The Greenburgh Housing Authority (GHA) runs an after-school program for approximate 30 children ages 5-17. The GHA believes in a “holistic approach to promote educational achievement of the young people” in the area. The after school program, which is headed by volunteers, provides attendees with homework help, reading and school projects. The program also provides an after school snack, a play area which includes arts and crafts and organizes extra-curricular courses, day trips, pizza and movie nights and more.

The JLCW is sponsoring a drive to collect items that GHA is significantly in need of to help create a more fulfilling and enriching learning environment for the children. The JLCW is looking to collect the following items:

–  Folding tables and chairs

–  Filing cabinets

–  Toys (indoor and outdoor)

–  Desk

–  Books

–  Art supplies

–  School supplies

The drive will be held at Wayside Cottage, 1039 Post Rd, Scarsdale, NY 10583. Items or monetary donations can be dropped off on Wednesday(s), December 3rd and December 10th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm or by appointment. JLCW may also be able to assist in picking up donated items.
