Junior League of Central Westchester to Donate a Portion of Proceeds from This Week’s Holiday Boutique to Benefit Hurricane Relief

Charity Fundraiser Still Scheduled to Lift Community Spirits

November 6, 2012, Scarsdale, NY – The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) today announced that a portion of its proceeds from this week’s Holiday Boutique fundraiser will benefit hurricane relief.  The JLCW is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. With the goal of providing a warm community gathering place and an occasion to lift people’s spirits for a good cause, their 26th Annual Holiday Boutique is still scheduled for this Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9 at Lake Isle Country Club.

Since 1986, the Holiday Boutique has brought the community together for a shopping event to benefit the charitable work of the JLCW.  Given the timing of this year’s Holiday Boutique, it was a natural decision to reallocate some of the funds raised to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“As an organization whose mission has always been to build better communities, we felt it was very important to redirect a portion of our fundraising dollars to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy,” stated Lauren Wyler-Smith, President of the JLCW.  “As many of our own members face struggles in the aftermath of the storm, the entire community is in our thoughts at this time.”

The Holiday Boutique will be held on Thursday, November 8 from 6 pm – 10 pm and Friday, November 9, from 9 am – 3 pm at its new venue, The Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, NY. More than 40 businesses will offer a wide variety of merchandise including gifts, accessories, jewelry, home décor, clothing and children’s items.   Guests will also have the opportunity to sell their gold and silver for cash from Good as Gold Girls. A full list of vendors can be seen here: http://www.jlcentralwestchester.org/cw/npo.jsp?pg=fundraiser&article=505&tab=Vendor-List

On November 8, “A Taste of Our Town” will showcase plated samples from some of Westchester’s premiere restaurants including Grace’s Table, The 808 Bistro, Caffe Azzurri, Chat American Grill, Moscato Ristorante, ZaZa Ristorante and more. There will also be a Wine & Spirits Tasting hosted by Vintology of Scarsdale and an Artisanal Beer tasting hosted by Growlers Beer Bistro.

On November 9, patrons can enjoy “A Delightful Day” of shopping, dining and pampering, featuring food from Andy’s Pure Foods, Cooked & Co., Serafina and Haiku among others. Complimentary mini-spa treatments will be provided by Skin Thera P, Massage Envy of Scarsdale, Jude’s Brow Bar, Spa Parties at Home, Space NK apothecary and more. Author Julie Gerstenblatt will be signing copies of her novel Lauren Takes Leave, the smart and funny story of a suburban wife and mother who just needs to get away from it all.

A $35 suggested donation on November 8 includes entry for both days, while admission for November 9 only is a $20 suggested donation. A $10 Express Shopping option will also be available.

In addition to benefitting hurricane relief, proceeds will support the JLCW’s programs that promote health and literacy, provide food and necessities to the underprivileged, empower low-income families, help preserve community history and train effective community volunteers.
