The Junior League of Central Westchester to Help Cleanup the Girl Scout Cabin Property in Eastchester

The Volunteer Activity takes place Sunday, April 19, 2015

April 2, 2015, Scarsdale, NY – The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) will participate in “Earth Day” celebrations to clean up the Girl Scout Cabin property in Eastchester on Sunday, April 19th from 12 to 3pm. This is being done in conjunction with the Eastchester Environmental Committee (www.GreenEastchester.com).

The League’s participation is being coordinated by the Immediate Impact Committee, and will be staffed by volunteers from JLCW and their families (children are welcome) as well as other local groups including Hudson Valley Girl Scouts, Twin Lakes Civic Association, California Ridge Civic Association and the Eastchester Environmental Committee. Efforts will focus mainly on vine cutting and trash removal, but some small shrubs will be available for planting. Trash bags, disposable gloves, plants and tools will be provided, but it is recommended to bring heavy-duty garden gloves. Also remember to wear sturdy shoes, long sleeve shirts and brimmed hats for protection.  Refreshments will be provided, but please bring water bottles, especially for children.

 

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Girl Scout Cabin property located at 119 Highland Avenue, near Leary Street in Eastchester, between 12 and 3pm. Street parking is available on Tuckahoe Avenue, Leary Street, Barbara Place or Howell Place.
